Hi! My name is Ms. Washburn and am an English teacher at Lompoc Valley Middle School in Lompoc, CA. I have degrees from Michigan State University and Grand Valley State University. I teach seventh-grade English and Reading Improvement. Our English department knows that the best way to improve student reading levels is by teaching them to love personal, independent reading. Our students are at that crucial age where they might quit reading if they fall behind their peers. My hope for Donors Choose is to supply these students with high interest but low-reading-level books to prevent them from giving up. With your help, I hope to instead keep them engaged until they catch up!
