I want to create a learning environment where students can take that BRAVE step forward. A space where the love of reading can be established through skill development and finding success through the struggle. A space where scholars can re-center their emotions and therefore gain personal control over their thought processes and behavior. The goal is to scaffold the learning environment and classroom structure so each student can truly THRIVE as their authentic self. The supplies requested will allow a space where students can increase their LOVE for reading and overall comprehension skills. A tranquil space where students feel safe to ask questions, reach beyond their comfort zone and grow in all areas of their lives. The large floor pillow and saucer chair will offer flexible seating options for independent work. The yoga mats will allow students the opportunity to learn therapeutic technique practices such as yoga and meditation. The headphones and flip chart holder will allow for auditory reading stations to occur. The shelves will allow for books and student work to be creatively displayed. The artificial plants will be used to soften the brick walls of the classroom and create a sense of home. Each item requested will serve a unique purpose that will positively impact the lives of each scholar I serve.
