My 2nd grade students are fifty boys and girls who come to school each day eager to learn. The kids are sweet and kind souls who are trying their best to succeed academically; yet, it is often a struggle. Our school population is primarily African-American and Hispanic, and our school is 100% free and reduced lunch. Despite being economically challenged, these kids are true go-getters and lovers of learning. They embrace everything I am teaching them. They love school and thirst for knowledge. School is a safe haven to many of my students.
