I teach two groups of wonderful first grade students. My students are in the Mandarin Dual Language Program (MDLP), in which they're immersed in Mandarin for half of their school day. Their ability to learn and speak a second language is one of many things that puts a smile on my face every morning. My students are mostly English language learners from low-income families. They are curious, hands-on learners who need a lot of visuals, realia, and manipulatives to stay engaged.
