I want to set my students up for success from the first day of school! I am requesting special triangular pencils to help support the students in learning how to properly hold and write with a pencil. This type of pencil is great for Kindergartners because it forces their small hands to hold a pencil correctly. The pencil sharpener will be used to sharpen these specialized pencils. Another item I am asking for is play-dough. Most people to do not realize that play-dough is not just for play, it is a great resource for children to use to help strengthen their tiny hands. Students can squeeze, push, roll, and stamp the play-dough. Finally I have the bingo chips on my list. These chips are great for counting, sorting, and stacking. Since they are small and thin it forces the students to concentrate on how to hold and pick them up. It takes a lot of muscles in their hands to pick them up and stack them. This project is focused on building and strengthening their small hand muscles to become strong writers in their educational career.
