Our students are inner city high school students that are economically disadvantaged and 90% minority, but filled with heart and a true love of art and theatre. Our school is a 6A (largest) school that works on an extremely limited budget to produce 4 shows a year at the same level and caliber as our suburban neighbors. The theatre students and teachers alike work tirelessly on rehearsals for 6-8 weeks to produce full scale shows in our two spaces, the High School Auditorium and our Black Box Theatre. Often we are at school from 8AM to 8PM most days and on performance days even later. Our students have access to an older sewing machine that has issues with the tension mechanism. We have worked hard to get it repaired but it is on its last leg. We are going to be entering "musical season" for the 14/15 school year in late October. It is part of our dream that students receive the opportunity to build and alter costumes on machines that function properly.
