One of the challenges faced in ELA classrooms is the limited academic vocabulary that many students come to class with. A strong vocabulary is not only essential to a school setting but also to communication in the world at large, and there is no better tool to explore the meanings and usage of unfamiliar words than a modern dictionary. It is my sincere hope that I will be able to equip my students with the communication skills that will serve them in not only their school careers but their lives beyond academia. A classroom set of clear, concise, modern dictionaries will provide an easy way to expand and build their literacy skills.
