I currently work in the Bronx and have a kindergarten class of 27 children, mostly of Dominican and Puerto Rican descent. Their eagerness and excitement to learn each and every day is unmatched. They work very cooperatively with one another, and I feel as if I have built a very nurturing environment for them, emphasizing kindness, respect, and rapport. The school in which I work is very supportive, in terms of the administration and staff; however, I work in a low-income neighborhood, so often times, the budget for classroom supplies is scarce. These children are worthy of a great education, and I am doing the best job that I can to provide them with all of the resources that they need to learn. All children are held to very high expectations, as evidenced by the rigorous curriculum that is in place.
