Every year, our high school DECA commits to feeding approximately 140 local elementary, middle and high school students through a weekend Buddy Bag community service project. Frankfort DECA provides Buddy Bags for 34-weeks of the school year. Each year, Frankfort DECA sets a goal to raise $12,000-$13,500 in order to purchase food items. Financial donations to DECA Backpack Buddies will be fully spent purchasing non-perishable, individually packaged food. Weekly Buddy Bags consist of 10-18 easy-to-make food items. Students who have access to food on weekends arrive to school on Monday morning more prepared to be engaged in their learning. It is rewarding to have former Buddy Bag recipients grow up to then become active members in our school's DECA with the sole purpose to pay it forward.
