My students are amazing! I teach in an area where many of my students deal with difficult situations at home (drugs, poverty, abuse) and school is a place where they can come to be safe. Most of my students enjoy, appreciate, and often don't want to leave our school at the end of the day. At W., we try to make each student feel special, loved, and most importantly, successful. Most parents go unseen throughout the school year, so there is no support at home, which is why it is crucial for the teachers at my school, including myself, to do everything we can to get them prepared for a bright future. Unfortunately, with lack of funding and support, it is has been getting more difficult each year. Without basic supplies and workbooks, the days can get stressful and often boring. My students need to be given every opportunity to succeed. They deserve the best at school because some of them get the worst at home. Their smiles make my day better and my goal is to help better their lives!
