I teach Graphic Design in the Visual Art Dept to 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th graders. My students are incredibly eager and full of potential. Our community is high-need due to the low socioeconomic status of our student population. The diversity in each of our classrooms is genuinely unique to my district. The high school is 40% Hispanic or Latino, 28% Asian (Approximately 85% of the Asian population is Cambodian), 9% African and African American, and 18% White. 15% of all students are special needs, 69% qualify for free or reduced lunch, and 30% are English language learners (DESE 2024.) The diversity in our city and school can be attributed, in part, to the thriving immigrant community our city supports. An immigrant community brings with it a unique set of challenges that can be supported through DonorsChoose! Thank you for your support.
