Music teaches life skills and discipline and many of my students want to learn how to play however they can't afford to buy or rent an instrument. Learning to play a brass instrument in the area that Buddy Bolden, Louis Armstrong, and Kid Ory played allows the students to make a connection with their heritage of musicians. They will have an opportunity to learn about and perform in the capacity of the front line of a traditional jazz band. They will learn the importance of the jazz funeral and the celebration of life that Louisiana has included in many of the festivals that are hosted around our state. We really need these trombones!
