At my K–5 campus, music is a place where students explore, create, perform, and connect with music from many cultures and time periods. K–3 build a strong foundation through singing, movement, percussion, xylophones, puppets, and hands-on activities that develop rhythm, creativity, coordination, and confidence. In 4th and 5th grade, students advance through our recorder ensemble, performing on sopranino, soprano, alto, and tenor recorders while studying music history from the 1600s to today. They build musicianship, teamwork, leadership, and an understanding of music’s evolution. I also teach PK3 and PK4 music at our Early Childhood Center 1.5 days a week. Our youngest learners explore music through movement, singing, rhythm, and play, fostering curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of music.
