I work in a low income/high poverty school. Many of my students walk into class without even the basic pencils and crayons. I would like them to come into the classroom knowing that we have everything that they need to be successful in school. In my project I have asked for some of those basic needs, such as writing paper, crayons, and book baggies. I have also asked for yoga mats for my classroom so that the students can be comfortable working anywhere in the classroom. I do not want them to be confined to their desk. These can also be taken outdoors during nice days for extra reading time. The last thing that I ask for was storage baskets for the classroom to store books and math manipulatives in. This upcoming school year we will be moving into a new school and organization supplies are going to be very important for getting off to a good start.
