This year is my tenth year as a School Counselor. I find that some of my students experience food insecurity as I am at a Title 1 school, and many struggle with regulating emotions. Many of my students lack emotional supports at home for various reasons and need more support more than other students. Students struggle many times for unknown reasons, behaviorally, educationally, and sometimes both. I want to encourage positive social and emotional development and experiences. I have requested snacks and incentives, students motivated when they make positive choices in the classroom. When I give them a treat in the classroom they feel a sense of immediate gratification and pride for making those positive behavior choices.
