My seventh- and eighth-grade students are curious, energetic, and excited about learning. They come from a growing community in southern Utah. Our school serves students from a wide range of backgrounds, including many families facing financial challenges. My students especially love hands-on projects that allow them to be creative, solve problems, and work with their classmates. As a middle school Career and Technical Education teacher, I strive to provide meaningful projects that get students communicating, collaborating, coding, and working with robots and other technology. These experiences help students build confidence while discovering skills and careers they may want to pursue in the future. After all, CTE might officially stand for Career and Technical Education—but in my classroom, we like to think it could also stand for “Coolest Teachers Ever!”
