Sitting still and staying focused for 5 hours a day is a lot of work for anyone. Imagine how difficult it is for a student whose brain won't allow for that for even a short amount of time. Some students, especially those with ADHD or autism, have sensory needs that must be met in order for them to learn. When mind and body work together good things happen! My project will help provide much needed deep pressure and calming sensory input that works wonders for many students. It's amazing to see how meeting their sensory needs allows them to be more receptive to learning. Everyone benefits from a whole group of active minds. There's less distraction and more attention for longer periods of time. The vests, seat cushions, and foot bands will help keep my students in their class and engaged in the lesson along with others.
