I am an elementary school counselor for a PK-5 public school in Las Vegas, Nevada. My school and counseling program serve a diverse student population facing significant social, emotional, and economic challenges. Many of our students experience homelessness, poverty, food insecurity, and unstable home environments, making access to consistent support essential to their academic and personal growth. Despite limited resources, my counseling program is dedicated to creating a safe, inclusive environment where every student feels seen, supported, and empowered to thrive—academically and personally—regardless of their circumstances.
