In our classroom we compute complex mathematical problems that often daunt students. Sadly, many students shy away from these problems when they try to compute them by hand. As a teacher I would love to see their confidence grow in this domain. I teach my students how to perform calculations using mental math but this can be very limiting. They are aware that math does not always deal with "nice" numbers. I believe calculators will help them become more confident in dealing with complex mathematical situations. These calculators will be kept in the classroom for student use.
