Our campus is 1 of 9 elementary schools in our district. We currently have 500+ students and I am lucky enough to see 1st through 5th graders in the Science Lab. Our students are always eager to come to lab and learn new things. The lab is an added extra to their classroom instruction. It allows them to experience science through hands on investigations. In addition to the lab I enjoy being the Science EAE sponsor, which allows me to focus on fun ways to learn science through technology, games and testing resources from other states. The highlight of my day is when I am able to pullout our GT students and expose them to critical thinking activities. It's a small group of students that are not only learning more, but are teaching me a thing or too as well. Each of these hats I wear throughout the school year helps me build relationships with our students and gives me opportunity to grow as an educator.
