I am entering my 8th year of teaching and my 3rd year teaching 6th grade literacy. Reading has become one of my greatest passions, but it was not always that way. As a student, I struggled to enjoy reading because I never found books that truly interested me. It wasn’t until I became an adult that I discovered the types of books I loved, and that experience completely changed my view of reading. Now, I want to help my students discover that same love for books. My goal is to create a classroom library filled with engaging, high-interest books, including graphic novels and popular series, that help students connect with reading in a meaningful way. I want to be the teacher who sparks a passion for reading in students and helps even reluctant readers realize there is a book out there for everyone.
