Believe it or not, barn owl pellets are an exceptionally popular educational tool. Because Barn Owls swallow their prey whole, the entire skeletons of last night's dinner often can be recovered from pellets and then reassembled. Our 3rd graders will dissect these owl pellets and try to figure out the owl's menu! We will use the forceps to grasp the pellet and pull apart the pieces. Students will use the magnifying glasses to get a closer look at the owl's prey. We have included some materials such as the magnifying glasses and forceps that will help us on future projects. All of these materials will get a lot of use! Our science team has two brand new teachers! Please help them stock their manipulatives for future experiments.
