My school is located in one of the poorest neighborhoods of Philadelphia. Most of the houses in the area are abandoned or beaten down with broken windows and decaying exteriors. Many students don't have basic necessities. Many parents are just scraping by. The school is trying to turn around the students thinking and and attitude. We try to teach them how to be someone with good character and to take pride in themselves. We are encouraging them to take their education seriously so they may get into a good high school and, hopefully, college. These are good kids with big dreams. They are working hard to overcome their circumstances and achieve great things in life.
