In order to compete in a global economy, students must have a solid foundation in mathematics. Each year I prepare my math students to excel on their IB exam. Knowing how to use a graphing calculator is no longer a luxury, but necessary in order for our students to broaden their knowledge beyond the scope of calculations. I want my students to be able to infer from their results and increase their higher order thinking skills. However, many students cannot afford to purchase a $100+ tool.
