Currently, the band spends much of its funds on instrument repair and maintenance. By simply purchasing a repair kit and manual, these costs will be greatly lessened by allowing me to perform much of my own instrument repairs. I have recently taken over this program and found out my predecessor has dealt with this by charging students an astronomical fee for instrument maintenance - however, charging sometimes upwards of $100 to families causes an unnecessary financial burden and limits music making only to those families who can afford it. I would like to make our program more inclusive to students by taking the financial burden off of the families. The instrument repair manual will give me the resources I need to learn how to perform these tasks and the repair kit will give me the proper tools necessary to transform from band teacher to DIY repair queen.
