96% of our students live in poverty and their parents often cannot afford to buy them books and so the books that they read in school are often their only resource. My students are creative, energetic, and enthusiastic bilingual 5th graders. They are voracious readers who love to curl up with a new book. Our school is a dual language school, with all of my student learning in both Spanish and in English every day. Unfortunately for us, Spanish language books are much more expensive and so we have limited supplies.
