My class is a 6th-8th grade, self-contained special education class in Brooklyn, NY. The setting is an 8:1:1 with disabilities in our class including emotional, intellectual, and autism. Our school is a Title I school and composed of all special education classes. My classroom of all boys is made up of some of the most energetic and eager learners I have seen in my teaching career. While they perform below grade level academically, they are very social and aware of their performance in the classroom.
