My hope is to trash the conventional days of kids sitting in chairs at their desks for the majority of a 7 hour school day. Don't we as adults get tired and groggy after sitting in one place for too long? Kids are no different. As a teacher of these 21st century learners, my classroom is centered around collaboration, communication and critical thinking. In order to effectively reach these goals, movement is a MUST! Research shows that when the body is active, the brain is active! With increased testing and state requirements, students are unfortunately forced to spend less time on the playground and more time in the classroom. Let's reverse this the best we can and award these students the ability of movement IN the classroom!
