My students are sixth graders at a Title I middle school in Kona, Hawaiʻi. They are curious, creative, and full of energy, bringing unique perspectives and experiences into our classroom each day. They love opportunities to collaborate, move around the room, share their thinking, and connect what they are learning to the world around them. Many of my students thrive when lessons feel relevant to their lives and community, whether that means making connections to our island environment, local culture, sports, the ocean, or everyday experiences here in Hawaiʻi. As they navigate the transition from elementary school to middle school, they are building confidence, independence, and their identities as learners. Above all, my students are resilient, hardworking, and eager to succeed when given the tools and environment they need to do their best learning.
