My students are energetic and have such a passion for learning. Most of my students are Hispanic and second language learners. Meeting their needs is sometimes challenging but I have found something that most of them love, regardless of the language barriers. My students LOVE read-alouds. Most of the time read-alouds are done with me standing in front of the room, while the students sit at their desks. The students enjoy story time, however, by the time I begin reading many of them are restless from sitting at their desks all day. I don't blame them! I have tried countless ways to get them together, from moving desks, to moving chairs, to even having them sit on the floor...EEK! All of these scenarios never seem to be too comfortable.
