Greetings! I am Angela Blair and I serve as the SEL Ambassador for Whitney Elementary School. My room is used for Resetting students that are trauma survivors and overwhelmed with the day to day regimen of being in the classroom learning with other children. My school’s district is located in a high poverty neighborhood with high crime rates and violent gang activity. Our school district is being merged with other schools from the district because of low attendance. I am asking for a calming machine for my classroom to help make some sense of refuge for my students that are already struggling. I don’t really know what to expect for this upcoming school year but I do know that this sensory input will make a huge impact on the students. We have already made great strides but we still have so very far to go.
