I teach 118 ninth-grade P-TECH Honors Biology students across five classes at Sunset High School in Dallas. My students are curious, resilient, and preparing not only for the Biology STAAR End-of-Course exam but also for college and career pathways in public health, education, and criminal justice. Eighty-four percent of students at our campus are economically disadvantaged, yet they bring determination, humor, and big goals to class each day. I use hands-on investigations, visual models, technology, and collaborative problem-solving to make rigorous science accessible. Donations help provide the essentials our standard classroom budget cannot—lab materials, learning tools, and snacks that keep students focused during long school days. Your support removes barriers and helps every student participate, persist, and see themselves as a capable scientist and future college student.
