My students are employing the iPads to create digital art on Procreate, IbisX, and other aps on the iPads. They are also enjoying the iPad pencils, which make their drawings much more precise. We are creating artwork to submit to College Board so that my students can earn college credit for free while they are still in high school. The iPads help the students make professional and competitive art works. Without this technology, they would not be able to create digital art at all (We are no longer allowed to use phones in the classroom, per a new Texas law.). My students are also creating artwork to submit to various competitions for Dia de los Muertos, Veteran's Day, Black History Month, etc. The iPads and pencils are helping them create digital art that looks professional, and this will increase their chances of winning these competitions. TELPAS stands for the Texas English Language Proficiency Assessment System. It is a state-mandated test that measures the English language proficiency of students learning English as a second language. Achieving high scores on TELPAS is key to being reclassified as proficient in English. For many of my students, it's the final hurdle before they are no longer labeled as English Language Learners.\r\n\r\nOne of the biggest challenges my students face is feeling comfortable speaking aloud in a classroom full of peers. With the headphones, we were able to create a more focused and private environment where students could record their responses and grow more confident each day. At first, they were very nervous about hearing their own voices. They were also hesistant to speak in front of their peers. But all it took was one brave student to try it out, and suddenly the whole class was participating. It was an incredible shift to witness. This happened in ALL of my classes.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, they walked into the TELPAS test feeling prepared and confident. Many told me afterward that it was the first time they felt ready for the speaking portion. They were more comfortable to speak in a quiet testing environment. Although we are still waiting on the official scores, I've already seen a transformation in their attitudes and self-assurance.\r\n\r\nYour donation didn't just fund headphones. It helped amplify voices that are often overlooked and gave my students the tools to show the world what they're truly capable of. These headphones will continue to serve future students year after year as they prepare to reclassify out of English Learner status and continue their academic journeys.\r\n\r\nFrom the bottom of my heart—thank you. Your generosity made a real and lasting difference.","fullyFundedDate":1740374341285,"projectUrl":"project/proficiency-in-english/9127334/","projectTitle":"Proficiency in English","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Eddy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9929959"},{"teacherId":8573666,"projectId":8745647,"letterContent":"I have been using the materials received from this project every single class period since I got them.\r\n\r\nThe iPad has been extremely helpful while teaching.
