My students come from low-income households and often face challenges far beyond their years. Many of them arrive at school carrying the weight of difficult circumstances whether it’s food insecurity, unstable housing, or other stresses at home. Despite it all, they show up each day with hope in their eyes and a desire for something better. For them, school is more than just a place to learn, it's a refuge. It's where they can feel safe, supported, and seen. It’s where they can laugh freely, build friendships, and experience moments of joy that may be hard to find elsewhere. In my classroom and gym, I strive to create an environment where every student feels valued and empowered. With the right resources, we can offer not just education, but a sense of belonging where students are encouraged to grow into strong, confident individuals ready to chase their dreams.
