I serve a diverse group of children, ages 3–6 years old in a Montessori setting. This age group is a beautiful stage of development often referred to as the Children’s House. During these years, the children move from exploring their environment to becoming increasingly independent, purposeful, and confident learners. They are also independent learners. The children are encouraged to choose meaningful work, complete activities independently, and take responsibility for returning materials to their proper places. In our classroom children learn through concrete, hands-on materials that allow them to touch, manipulate, explore, and discover concepts for themselves. If you visit our classroom you will see children gradually developing longer periods of focus as they engage in activities that match their interests and developmental needs. A well prepared environment is very important for them to thrive in.
