I have requested a variety of resources for my students. I've noticed that some of my students enjoy working with their hands while listening to me teach, the puzzles will provide them with this opportunity. Other students prefer a quiet space to work while listening to music but many of them lack the resources or ability to have access to headphones. Having 10 pairs of headphones that students will be able to use while in my class will help them be able to focus more clearly on their work. I have also added a variety of books that will allow students to learn about the history of our country in a fun and creative way. These books will also allow them to see themselves represented & will help further their understanding of our nation's history. I've included masks as well. Our district provides masks for the students but often students will lose theirs or they will have broken & they need a mask immediately & don't have time to go to the office. Having a stock of masks in my class allows me to meet this need. I have added pencils, posters, supplies, & accessories so that I can create a warm, safe, & welcoming classroom environment & give students access to supplies & resources they need to successfully engage in their education. Over the last couple of years, we have seen the entire education system buckle under the weight of COVID-19. Students who come from wealthy backgrounds have been able to better weather this than students who come from poor backgrounds. The majority of my students lack the resources that more wealthy students have. This project will allow me to ensure that each student has access to an equitable & safe learning environment with plenty of resources.
