The goal of my classroom project is to create a more sensory-aware environment with student-friendly workstations. The recent pandemic has left students with an added anxiousness that they bring into the classroom. Every day, lessons and projects have increased anxiety in many students which in turn causes them to be less likely to focus, retain and enjoy the classroom environment. Providing them with better access to sensory items such as calming lamps, fidgets, and bubble tubes will allow them to focus more clearly on the task at hand. A sturdy table will allow a place to set up workstations for students to be able to move about the classroom. A stand-up desk will allow for students to have a place to present oral assignments in a more organized manner. A classroom vending machine can offer a unique way for students to access classroom rewards. Overall my goal is for each student in my classroom to be able to feel calm and eager to learn. A learning environment that is relaxed and inviting is imperative for success in a classroom.
