I would like to help encourage and embrace diversity at my school and with my students. My Kindergarten colleagues and I share all of our materials, so not only will these books be read to the 20 students in my class, but in the other 4 Kindergarten classes as well. The reason I chose these books is that I think it is important for our students to see themselves and their cultures represented in the stories and authors we read. It will help open windows into new experiences and help us change our attitude towards people's differences. My hope is that these books will help students to understand their own culture and the culture of others. Thank you for considering my project!
