These low income students want to be part of something bigger than the streets. These girls don't have many options in our area and one way we work to keep them out of trouble is through athletics. A lot of times they try to come out and borrow equipment but they quickly find it is hard to keep asking others to use their gloves to play catch or field. These girls get embarrassed and usually stop coming out if they cannot convince their parents to buy them a glove. We try our best to get girls gloves and batting gloves to be able to play but it is a hardship on coaches to pay out of pocket. The gloves purchased will remain school property and the girls will be able to use them year after year and be passed down to new players as they come along.
