Having these materials available for my students will help them not only have access to more books, but will help them see and read about different examples of things they could be facing in their life. Because I am a first year teacher, I do not have the funds to supply the amount of books needed for 1st graders to read their way through throughout the year. My students would benefit from having access to books about animals to explore and discover on their own. My class is also focused on improving our social skills and identifying how we are feeling. Because of COVID, my 1st graders have been isolated and have not had many opportunities to practice their social and problem solving skills. By donating to this project, my students will be able to continue growing and strengthening their social skills, can see different ways to solve problems, and connect examples from books to their real life. These books will also give my students more options of what they can read. My students already love reading, having more access will get them that much more excited.
