Literacy is my biggest priority in Kindergarten. Creating a robust day of teaching involves using the curriculum as well as quality text and hands on resources to help kids fall in love with reading and develop a love for learning. \r\n\r\nI love to do a read aloud as part of my routine. It's great for so many skills and really helps kids attention spans and comprehension. The books from this project have been so fun and brought laughter and joy to our read aloud time. \r\n\r\nThe hands on resources have really helped with my intervention time and helped students be able to have a multi-sensory appropach to learning letters. I have been wanting to have various novels, on different reading levels for years and now I have them.\r\n\r\nI am currently reading six different novels, with six different groups, during our daily literacy time. We have been treating it like a book club and it has been so fun. The students are very invested in the characters, the stories, and the books have been the perfect fit for their levels. We have been able to make inferences and have discussions - while diving deeper into the books - which you just can't do with short stories or text books.\r\n\r\nThank you for helping to facilitate a deeper, and richer learning environment for my students. I had already seen growth in both fluency and comprehension with several groups, and I know that I will continue to see growth as we progress throughout the year.","fullyFundedDate":1756714598403,"projectUrl":"project/literacy-magic/9550613/","projectTitle":"Literacy Magic","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Smuin","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8295182"},{"teacherId":8283229,"projectId":9034807,"letterContent":"Thank you for your generosity in funding my project. We have started reading our class set of Escape From Mr. Lemoncello's Library. The students are enjoying it very much. \r\nWe get to talk about what happens in each chapter after we read one. This greatly helps their comprehension skills. We practice making predictions with talking about what we think will happen next. The students are able to follow along as someone else is reading, this also helps them to become better readers.\r\n\r\nI have a great amount of students who enjoy these new books. They love being able to listen to someone read to them. After we finish this book study, the students will be able to watch the show. After watching the show, we will be able to compare and contrast the show to the book. Being able to compare and contrast is a 4th grade skill these students need to be able to do.\r\n\r\nAgain, Thanks so much for adding these wonderful books to our classroom library and book clubs.","fullyFundedDate":1746460751664,"projectUrl":"project/the-love-of-book-clubs/9034807/","projectTitle":"The Love of Book Clubs","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Blaylock","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8283229"},{"teacherId":9167262,"projectId":9167276,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your incredible generosity and support of our classroom project. Because of you, my students now have access to beautiful new books and vibrant art materials that are already transforming our learning environment in powerful and lasting ways.\r\n\r\nThis year, I've made it a priority to nurture creativity, imagination, and a love of reading. With your help, we're bringing stories to life, building literacy skills through joyful reading experiences, and expressing ourselves through meaningful art projects that deepen comprehension and emotional connection to the content we explore.\r\n\r\nBooks open up new worlds for my students—many of whom are just beginning to see themselves as readers. I've watched their confidence bloom as they discover characters they relate to, stories that inspire them, and books they just can't put down. The art supplies you've helped provide give them the tools to respond creatively, making their learning more personal, expressive, and lasting.\r\n\r\nIn the months ahead, I look forward to continuing this journey—one filled with reading, creating, and growing.
