Our school was created in 2012 and we joined another school's campus. Our home is on the fourth floor of a four story building in the Bronx, NY. The courtyard was maintained by the other school up until this point, and since then it has remained unused for the most part. Currently, the courtyard is overgrown and many of the trees, shrubs and flowers have died. With the requested items, along with a small grant from the NYC DOE, our school will be able to clear the courtyard and start fresh. The students will be creating an outdoor learning space and a space for them to have lunch outside when the weather is nice. Students will learn the difference between annual and perennial plants and how to maintain them. The students will also develop and maintain an herb and vegetable garden. An outdoor feeding station for birds will be assembled as well.
