The very first thing members did was open up the instructions, grab some tools from teachers, and collaborate to build the racks for our new dumbbells. Once that was done, we incorporated our yoga mats and new resistance bands in order to enhance our warm-ups and workouts. Now, the team knows that regular mat work with resistance bands or bells is part of what makes an overall healthy, strong, and speedy runner. Seeing the team do workouts in the hallway has piqued the interest of other members of the school community, who are now looking forward to trying out for the team next year. The equipment is exactly what the team needed to deepen their understanding of strength training, as well as to get other kids excited about track.","fullyFundedDate":1738269470484,"projectUrl":"project/fuel-the-fast-help-equip-the-pgms-track/9083458/","projectTitle":"Fuel the Fast: Help Equip the PGMS Track Team!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Karpathios","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9909808_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1738177385286","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/karpathios725"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_103480","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":285,"numTeachers":35,"percentFrplEligible":84,"percentAsian":3,"percentBlack":53,"percentWhite":4,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"8.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":75.0,"schoolId":103480,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Pelham Gardens Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Pelham Gardens Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/pelham-gardens-middle-school/103480"}
