Many of my students come from homes where structure is non existent. Several of them are placed in adult roles despite only being 9 years old. It is evident in school that they are lacking organization. To learn organizational skills and responsibility will not only help them at school, but also in their home lives. My goal as their teacher is to not only help them learn the curriculum, but to teach them to become functional learners and people. In class, my students will use the seat sack to keep their notebooks, folders, work, and assignments. The carts will hold other school supplies like pencils, pens, markers, glues, scissors, ruler, etc. This will help them sort their materials properly and access them easily when needed. Other students who are lacking supplies will not worry about having none because they will have access to them as well. Their time will be devoted to learning rather than worrying about where to get materials to use or searching work to be turn in for grading. In the long run, as they become more conscientious of time and getting more organized by keeping their things in order, their skills to keep their thoughts in order so they can retrieve information and use it effectively is also enhanced. Organization is key to becoming a successful lifelong learner and citizen. Obtaining the seat sacks as well as the organizational rolling storage carts would help me immensely in achieving this goal.
