The materials for the pallet clock will give my students the ability to construct a clock from start to finish. They will pick a unique design from online sources. Next, they will deconstruct pallets and prepare the wood for assembly by removing nails, sanding it, and cutting it to specific measurements. After the wood is prepared, they will construct the clock, complete the design and assemble the mechanism to run the clock. This multistep project builds employability and advocating skills that will crossover to real life situations. The finished project will also be used at home to help with time management, from being on time for work to assist with computation of wages. Some of the clocks will be auctioned off for a community charity that also employs our students to build employability skills.
