After more than 20 years of teaching, and over 15 years in a grade 5 classroom, I am in the process of transitioning to an ESL classroom. I want my classroom to be a place where students feel safe, supported, and where they are excited and motivated to learn. Most of the new students in our school are non-English speaking students. They are facing new challenges daily in the general education classrooms both academically and socially. Students will be able to use these resources to become better readers and writers. These language development resources will provide support for students learning English and it is a way for them to be able to communicate with their classmates. I want to promote a positive classroom culture where students can move forward academically and socially. If this project is funded, it will proved the ESL classroom with a translator device and some of the resources needed for active learning and success. Thank you for your generosity and support!
