The materials that I am requesting today will help with emotional regulation, coping skills for stress, anger, sadness, and anxiety, all magnified by the pandemic and Covid. They will help teach emotional intelligence, self-awareness, stress management, motivation, empathy and compassion for others, better communication and decision-making. They will also be used in group counseling such as our Grieving group and our Changing Families group. These tools will help my students learn to calm themselves down, navigate their emotions, and ultimately be successful in their classrooms. Students learn best when their emotional well-being is taken care of. When students are struggling with emotional regulation, it makes learning more difficult because of the effect it has on the mind and body. When we feel out of control of ourselves and how we feel, everything is harder, including behavior, concentration, memorization, and getting along with peers. Students need to get back on track after the last few years of the pandemic, on-line learning, and Covid.
