In our classroom, we start of the day discussing how we will demonstrate leadership skills throughout our day during our morning meeting. We discuss example of how to show kindness, understanding, compassion, problem solving skills, and perseverance. As a result, students learn the importance of being kind leaders who persevere through challenges and struggles. The materials, organization storage, and flexible seating requested will help ease some of those challenges and help promote a more positive environment. The bean bags and computer desk chair requested will allow for more flexible seating options creating an optimal environment for comfort, collaboration, learning, and productivity. Flexible seating allows students to take charge of their learning and make the choices that work best for them. The materials requested will be used to better engage students and empower them with choices by providing diverse seating options. I have noticed amazing differences in my students when they are given a choice in their seating. They almost always make good choices about where they sit, are more engaged, and get more work completed than when they are just sitting at their desk. In addition to requesting flexible seating options, other materials requested will aid me and the students productivity in the classroom. For example, the requested literature organizer would help keep student materials organized and readily available as needed. The thermal laminator and its pouches will help make anchor charts and recourses more durable for students to use though out the year. Other classroom materials like the heavy duty stapler and paper cutter would help me put together student workbooks and activities.
