The books requested will allow for our students to envelop themselves into another culture even if only for a short time. Understanding that our city, country, and world consists of people that may be different than us. But also that the differences between our races and cultures make each of us beautifully unique. I am requesting books with reading levels that are accessible to the largest population of our students so no matter what their ability level they can actively participate. Our students were placed at our school because they struggle with socially acceptable behavior. So often our students feel isolated within our school due to the lack of interaction with the broader student population. If we introduce them to culturally broad characters from all around the world, maybe the world will feel less overwhelming and unknown.
