We have many special education students at the middle school level who struggle with their reading skills. We work to strengthen their phonemic awareness and phonics skills but then it is so important for them to practice those skills through book reading. Unfortunately, our students do not have access to leveled readers at the middle school level that would help them do this. We do have access to books on the computer, but it just doesn't match the excitement of having an actual book in your hands to read. I want my students to be excited about the books they are reading and be motivated to keep reading. Having a collection of books for them to choose and actually hold in their hands would help improve their reading and their excitement about reading. Please consider helping my students get access to more books!
